Where we are in the legislative year, what's passed, what's coming — every date sourced to the official calendar. Never open a .ca.gov site for "when does session end?" again.
Deadlines come from Joint Rule 61 — (a) for the first year of the biennium, (b) for the second. In the even year the Constitution bars passing bills after Sept 1 (Art. IV, Sec. 10(c)), so Aug 31 at midnight is the de facto final deadline — there is no "stopping the clock." The most common quiet way a bill dies: missing a committee "hear and report" deadline.
